Aligning Nursing Services
Nursing is the second largest group of licensed professionals in the United States with more than 4.5 million individuals holding licenses and most frequently the case managers for patients in home health, hospice and home care.
In the home, the licensed nurse is working in a setting without direct oversight and has to make professional decisions every day related to the care of patients. He or she has to rely on her knowledge and judgement to ensure he/she is practicing in compliance with the state Nurse Practice Act, Medicare Conditions of Participation, home care licensure laws, and a myriad of other rules and regulations that impact the provision of home care. One of the more common Medicare Conditions of Participation deficiencies cited during licensure and certification surveys in recent years has been Nursing Services.
